Tomato Chutney
This is a tasty side dish for idly and dosa
Ingredients
For tomato chutney base
- 2 tbsp Cooking oil
- 1/4 tsp Mustard seeds
- 1/4 tsp Cumin seeds
- 1/4 tsp Fenugreek seeds
- 2 cloves Garlic
- 1 nos Onion Chopped
- 2 nos Tomatoes Chopped
- 1 tsp Chilli powder
- Salt to taste
For tempering
- 2 tsp Cooking Oil
- 1/4 tsp Mustard seeds
- 1/4 tsp Urad Dal
- 1 nos Dry red chilli
- few Curry leaves
Instructions
For tomato chutney base
- Heat cooking oil in a thick bottomed vessel and add mustard seeds, cumin seeds, fenugreek seeds and garlic cloves.
- Add a chopped onion and mix well.
- Add the chopped tomatoes and mix.
- Add chilli powder, turmeric powder and salt to taste and saute.
- Close with a lid and cook on low flame for 10 minutes.
- Allow to cool and then transfer the contents to blender.
- Blend well.
- Transfer the chutney to a bowl.
For tempering
- Heat oil in a small vessel and add mustard seeds, urad dal, dry red chilli and a few Curry leaves.
- Fry them briefly and add to the tomato chutney.
- Mix well, serve with love and share the goodness.
