Prawn masala

Spicy tasty and easy to make prawn recipe

Ingredients

For marination

  • 1/2 tsp Turmeric powder
  • Salt to taste
  • 800 gms Prawn

For the masala

  • 3 tbsp Cooking oil
  • 1 tsp Fennel seeds
  • few Curry leaves chopped
  • 1 no Onion chopped
  • 10 cloves Garlic chopped
  • 1 tbsp Ginger grated
  • 2 nos Tomatoes chopped
  • 2 nos Green chillies sliced
  • 1/4 tsp Turmeric powder
  • 1 tsp Red chilli powder
  • 1 tbsp Coriander powder
  • Salt to taste
  • 1/4 cup Water
  • 1/4 tsp Black pepper powder
  • few Coriander leaves chopped

Instructions

For Marination

  • Place the prawns in a vessel and add turmeric powder and salt – mix well and set aside to marinate for about half hour

For the Masala

  • In a thick bottomed vessel, heat oil and add fennel seeds and chopped curry leaves
  • Add finely chopped onions and mix well
  • Add garlic and ginger and mix well
  • Add chopped tomatoes and sliced green chillies
  • Add turmeric powder, chilli powder, coriander powder and salt to taste and mix well
  • Add the marinated prawns and mix well
  • Add 1/4 cup water and stir
  • Close with a lid and cook for 5 minutes on medium flame
  • Open the lid and cook for another 5 minutes
  • Add pepper powder and a few chopped coriander leaves, stir well and bring to required consistency
  • Garnish with coriander leaves
