Prawn masala
Spicy tasty and easy to make prawn recipe
Ingredients
For marination
- 1/2 tsp Turmeric powder
- Salt to taste
- 800 gms Prawn
For the masala
- 3 tbsp Cooking oil
- 1 tsp Fennel seeds
- few Curry leaves chopped
- 1 no Onion chopped
- 10 cloves Garlic chopped
- 1 tbsp Ginger grated
- 2 nos Tomatoes chopped
- 2 nos Green chillies sliced
- 1/4 tsp Turmeric powder
- 1 tsp Red chilli powder
- 1 tbsp Coriander powder
- Salt to taste
- 1/4 cup Water
- 1/4 tsp Black pepper powder
- few Coriander leaves chopped
Instructions
For Marination
- Place the prawns in a vessel and add turmeric powder and salt – mix well and set aside to marinate for about half hour
For the Masala
- In a thick bottomed vessel, heat oil and add fennel seeds and chopped curry leaves
- Add finely chopped onions and mix well
- Add garlic and ginger and mix well
- Add chopped tomatoes and sliced green chillies
- Add turmeric powder, chilli powder, coriander powder and salt to taste and mix well
- Add the marinated prawns and mix well
- Add 1/4 cup water and stir
- Close with a lid and cook for 5 minutes on medium flame
- Open the lid and cook for another 5 minutes
- Add pepper powder and a few chopped coriander leaves, stir well and bring to required consistency
- Garnish with coriander leaves
