Potato Masala
Best side dish for Poori
Ingredients
- 3 nos Potatoes
- 3 cups Water
- Salt to taste
- 1 tsp Mustard seeds
- 1 tsp Chana dal
- 1 tsp Urad dal
- 1/2 tsp Cumin seeds (Jeerakam)
- 1 nos Onion (Chopped)
- 1 tsp Ginger (Grated)
- 3 nos Green Chillies (Chopped)
- 1 tsp Lemon Juice
- 1 string Curry Leaves (Chopped)
- 2 strings Coriander Leaves (Chopped)
Instructions
- Wash 3 potatoes and place them in a cooker. Add 3 cups of water and salt to taste.
- Close the cooker lid and pressure cook for 4 whistles.
- Open the cooker after the pressure releases and peel the potatoes.
- Mash the potatoes well.
- Heat oil in a vessel and add mustard seeds, chana dal, cumin seeds, curry leaves and mix well.
- Turn the stove to medium, add onions and saute.
- Add ginger and green chillies and stir well.
- Add turmeric powder and salt to taste and mix well.
- Add the mashed potatoes and mix well.
- Add half a cup of water, one teaspoon of lemon juice, chopped coriander leaves, mix well and allow to cook.
- Turn of the stove when it is at a soft consistency. This Potato masala is best when served with Poori.
