Traditional Indian Sweet
Equipment
- Deep tray
- Sieve
- Pan
Ingredients
- 1 tbsp Ghee (Clarified butter) for coating the tray
- 1 cup Gram flour (Besan or Kadalai maavu)
- 1/2 cup Ghee
- 1/2 cup Edible Oil
- 1 1/2 cup Sugar
- 1/2 cup Water
Instructions
- Grease a deep tray with Ghee and set aside (This has to be done at the very beginning)
- Sieve 1 cup of gram flour (to remove lumps and solids)
- Heat half cup of ghee and half cup of oil
- Take half a cup of water & add one and half cups of sugar
- Stir continuously for proper consistency of the sugar syrup
- Check consistency by taking one drop between two fingers. When we open the fingers, it should show a thin string of sugar syrup.
- Add the gram flour in batches while stirring continuously to avoid formation of lumps
- Pour the Ghee / Oil mixture every few minutes
- Stir and mix continuously until the all oil is absorbed
- Again pour a little of Ghee / Oil over the boiling mixture
- Continuously stir well on medium flame
- Repeat the process until all the ghee/oil is absorbed
- Turn off the stove when the oil leaves from the sides
- Immediately transfer to the greased tray
- After 5 minutes, mark pieces with a knife
- Transfer to a tray after it cools down completely
- Cut into pieces as already marked
- Mysore Pak is now ready !
