Easy Pressure Cooker Sambar

Quick and easy pressure cooker sambar

Equipment

  • Pressure cooker

Ingredients

  • 1 cup Toor dal
  • 1 tbsp Oil
  • 1 tsp Mustard seeds
  • 1 tsp Cumin seeds
  • 1/2 tsp Fenugreek seeds
  • Few Curry leaves
  • 1 no Onion Chopped
  • 1/2 tsp Turmeric powder
  • 1 tsp Chilli powder
  • 1 tsp Coriander powder
  • 1/4 tsp Asafoetida (hing)
  • Water
  • 1/4 cup Tamarind water
  • 1 no Tomato Chopped
  • 1 no Carrot Chopped
  • Few Coriander leaves

Instructions

  • Wash and soak the toor dal for about 10 minutes
  • Heat 1 tablespoon oil in a pressure cooker base
  • Add mustard seeds, cumin seeds, fenugreek seeds and curry leaves
  • Add the chopped onion and saute
  • Add turmeric powder
  • Add chilli and coriander powder
  • Add asafoetida (hing)
  • Add two cups of water
  • Add the soaked toor dal
  • Pressure cook until 4 whistles
  • Open after pressure releases and mash well
  • Add tamarind water
  • Add chopped tomato
  • Add chopped carrot or any other vegetable
  • Pressure cook for 1 whistle
  • Open after pressure releases
  • Garnish with coriander leaves, serve with love and share the goodness
