Ingredients
Main dish
- 500 gms Bottle gourd cut
- 3 tbsp Moong dal
- 2 tbsp Channa dal
- 1/2 tsp Turmeric powder
- Salt to taste
- 2 cups Water
To grind
- 1/4 cup Coconut grated
- 2 nos Green chillies
- 1/2 tsp Cumin seeds
- 1/4 cup Water
Tempering
- 2 tbsp Cooking oil
- 1/2 tsp Mustard seeds
- 1 no Dry red chilly
- Few nos Curry leaves chopped
Instructions
Preparation
- In a vessel add Moong dal and Channa dal, wash 2-3 times and soak for 20 minutes
- Peel the bottle gourd, remove the seeds and cut into cubes
- In a mixer, add grated coconut, green chillies, cumin seeds and water and grind to coarse paste
Main dish
- In a pressure cooker, add the soaked dal and bottle gourd pieces
- Add turmeric powder and water and pressure cook to 3 whistles
- Open after pressure releases, add salt to taste, add the ground coconut paste, mix well and add a few chopped coriander leaves – boil for 2 minutes
Tempering
- Heat oil in a pan, add mustard seeds and let it splutter, add dry red chilly and a few chopped curry leaves and pour the mixture into the main dish and mix well
Step by step method
