Ginger Chutney
Sweet and spicy chutney for Idly and Dosa
Ingredients
For Chutney
- 1 tbsp Cooking oil
- 2 tsp Chana dal
- 2 tsp Urad dal
- 1/2 cup Ginger chopped
- 8 nos Dry red chillies
- 1 pc Tamarind small piece
- 1 tbsp Jaggery
- Salt to taste
- Water a little
For Tempering
- 2 tsp Cooking Oil
- 1/2 tsp Mustard seeds
- 1/4 tsp Urad dal
- 1 no Dry red chilli
- Few nos Curry leaves
Instructions
- Heat cooking oil in a thick bottomed vessel and add chana dal, urad dal & chopped ginger and saute well
- Add dry red chillies, mix well and a small piece of tamarind and mix well
- Add jaggery, mix well and add salt to taste and mix well
- Allow the contents to cool and grind in a mixer – add a little water for consistency
- Transfer to a bowl and get ready for tempering the chutney
- Heat 2 tsps of cooking oil and add mustard seeds, urad dal, dry red chilli and a few curry leaves
- Allow it to splutter and pour over the chutney and mix well
Step by step method
