Bread Upma
Ingredients
- 10 slices Bread cut into small pieces
- 1 tbsp Cooking oil
- 1 tbsp Ghee
- 1/2 tsp Mustard seeds
- 1 tbsp Chana Dal
- 1 tbsp Urad Dal
- Few Curry leaves chopped
- 1 no Onion chopped
- 1 no Tomato chopped
- 2 nos Green chillies sliced
- 1/2 tsp Turmeric powder
- 1 tsp Red chilly powder
- Salt to taste
- 1 tbsp Lemon juice
- Few Coriander leaves small cut
Instructions
- Heat a thick bottomed vessel and add Cooking oil & Ghee
- Add Mustard seeds, wait for splutter and add Chana dal, Urad dal and chopped Curry leaves
- Add chopped onions and saute well
- Add chopped tomatoes & sliced green chillies and cook (while stirring intermittently) until the tomatoes turn soft
- Add turmeric powder, red chilly powder & salt to taste and mix well
- Cook the masala for 5 minutes
- Add the cut pieces of bread to the masala and mix well
- Add a tablespoon of lemon juice (for the tart flavour) and mix well
- Add the cut coriander leaves and remove the vessel from the stove
Step by step method
